Day Twenty Four: Under the Tuscan Sun...

Today we stayed close to "home" and had a relaxing and enjoyable today. We started out by heading into the town of Greve in Chianti, about 5 min from Corte di Valle. It is a cute little town with little shops, restaurants and most things you would need in your travels.

Sunday Market

Every 4th Sunday (Feb-Nov) in Greve's town square (Piazza Matteotti) there is an organic market. There are local artisans, natural crafts and lots of organic food like cheese, bread, wine, olive oil, jams etc. (http://www.realtasteoftuscany.com/events/wine/organic-markets-in-tuscany.html). Jen and I had a great time looking at all the wonderful crafts and foods, we did a little shopping and had lunch at one of the local restaurants around the Piazza.

After we did a little shopping we stopped by the local supper market and got some things for a picnic dinner that night. We bought our standard bread, cheese and salami, we also got some local grapes and tomatoes. When we got back to Corte di Valle we spent the rest of the afternoon doing nothing but laying in the sun by the pool. Jen was the only one brave enough to go in, although it was a nice warm day, it was the end of September and the water in the pool was pretty cold.

Laying by the pool was so relaxing, we were in the middle of the beautiful Tuscany region of Italy, surrounded by beauty, soaking up the sun and we were loving it. We also used this time to write some post cards.

At dinner time we went into the shop where we were staying and bought a bottle of their own Chianti wine. We ate our yummies from the store on the picnic tables outside, with the amazing views of grape vines and the rolling hills of Tuscany. After dinner Jen and I played Yahtzee with some dice we had bough at a local store in town and our own homemade papers. This day was not filled with a million sites to see, or famous places, but it was an extremely enjoyable, restful and relaxing day. Much needed!
